Internal and external hemroids
Posted by: admin : Category: Uncategorized
This a longitudinal section in the rectum and anal canal showing both types of hemroids; internal and external and their relations to the rectum and anal canal.
As you see, hemroids are enlarged subcutaneous or submucosal veins which are liable to become inflamed causing pain and may rupture causing rectal bleeding.
Also, the picture shows both types of hemroids; internal hemroids are within the anus not appearing externally as they occur above the pectinate line.
On the contrary, external hemroids occur outside the anus and originate below the pectinate line.
